Sanraku 山楽

Niseko fills the living room at Sanraku through floor to ceiling windows, perched on the exclusive lower Hirafu Village bluff. The views to Mt. Yotei and rice paddies below are framed within the 3.2 meter high ceilings, with suspended wood fireplace in the foreground. Designed sensitively to the sloping site, the 4 bedroom chalet was customized entirely for this land, including the angular cantilevered bedroom and living room. From the road, the house appears to be an unassuming single floor residence, belying the impressive full 3 floors of concrete and steel framing.

For the owner, Niseko is a year round escape from the hustle and bustle of urban Asia. Together with Taiga, Sanraku is the culmination of years of searching for just the right site, and planning this family retreat. Now they can relax together in the open concept living area, or quietly enjoy a book and the views from each bedroom, or soak in the Japanese style spa bath.
