SHION 森音

SHION 森音 - "Sound of the Forest" - was inspired by the soundscape of birch and oak trees swaying in the breeze that blows down the Shiribetsu River valley. With an enviable location perched on a bluff, Shion overlooks both the river valley and Mt. Yotei. To the west, the slopes of Mt. Annupuri with the glittering night lights of Niseko Grand Hirafu Resort beckon.

When Taiga created the original concept design, we wanted to celebrate Shion’s unique vantage point and sublime views to both mountains from the living area. Framed within a vaulted ceiling that extends almost 5m high, one can look right through the chalet to see the mountain on the other side. The second floor cantilevers slightly over the first floor, giving two distinct volumes.

The abundant Western red cedar visually warms the space, while also giving an unmistakable yet subtle alpine scent. A warm gas fireplace, embedded within a gently curving wave design, is the focal point of the living area. From the large custom kitchen, you can cook up a feast for friends and family using the full-size Western appliances. The 4 bedrooms offer flexibility with a variety of sleeping arrangements. For folks who need to do a little work while holidaying, there are desks in both the master bedroom and also in the living area.

Beyond being a warm, cozy accommodation for families in any season, Shion is a place far away from the bustle of city life, a celebration of being back to nature and a chance for renewal. The lot size is a very generous 1332 ㎡, landscaped to give a large yard for kids to run around during the green season, and calming views from the bedrooms. From the second floor covered balcony, you can enjoy meals al fresco while soaking in the views and basking in the Hokkaido forest ambience.

Plan your holiday at Shion.
