Kazahana Chalet is unabashedly contemporary Japanese architecture, yet still feels at home within Niseko’s alpine milieu. Crisp lines of timber and steel interplay with rendered wall finishings, combining the best of Japanese workmanship and materials. On the top floor, the two planes of warm timber ceilings and floor are connected by a feature fireplace of cool Kurokawa steel.
Designed for an extended family spanning 3 generations, Kazahana has 6 bedrooms and 5 ensuites. The washitsu (tatami room) can sleep 3 people, meaning that in total 13 can stay comfortably. The top floor is devoted entirely to the living, dining, and kitchen areas, giving sweeping views to both Mt. Yotei and also the night lights of Grand Hirafu Resort.
Located on Hirafu’s exclusive Middle Village Bluff, the house boasts massive, unobstructed views across the valley. A large jacuzzi and outdoor dining cap the top floor deck, for maximum enjoyment of the scenery.
Completed December, 2013.
