KŌHŌ 高峰

At Taiga, we love to reinvent things. KŌHŌ was a wonderful opportunity to reimagine a classic post and beam alpine chalet. Fully renovated in 2015, we flipped the floor plan so the top floor could feature an open plan living/dining/kitchen under vaulted ceilings. A white oil stain on the North American Douglas Fir post and beams gives the space a more contemporary feel. The custom kitchen, dining buffet table, and sofa are all custom designed into their own nooks, and highlighted with recessed lighting. The dining table was also custom, using the naturally whitish Hokkaido Sen wood.

The second floor (formerly the LDK) is now home to two generous, ensuited bedrooms. The ground floor garage was transformed into a bunk room and media area for the kids.

Whether summer or winter, KŌHŌ is a wonderful chalet for an alpine getaway, a place to share time with family and friends, or just curl up with a book.
